“The Joe Joe Bear Foundation recently recognized the donation of well over 400 hand made stuffed animals from women of the Plane State Jail in Dayton, TX over the past year. These “One of a Kind” creations are distributed to hospitalized children fighting cancer and other life threatening illnesses throughout the Houston area. A Plaque of appreciated was presented to Chaplain Sandy Biles (center) and Warden Octavious Black by Foundation Member Hiett Ives during a recent visit to the facility. A couple of sample “animals” are pictured in this presentation photo.”
Joe Joe Bear Foundation has been chosen as one of the first three non-profits to compete in a unique fundraising and friend-raising opportunity called “The Appleseed Challenge” sponsored by the Appleseed Express Carwash. This new carwash, located at the corner of Fry Rd and Little York in Katy, has as its core focus to eliminate the negative influences plaguing today’s children.
The Appleseed Challenge is a fun contest designed to raise awareness and funds for non-profits that help the kids in Katy reach their full potential. During September and October, users of the carwash can vote for the 1000 Bear Challenge at the self-pay kiosk or online. In addition to considerable awareness and increased donations, the non-profit with the most votes will receive seed money from The Appleseed Group in the amount of $7,000.
To VOTE for funding for the 1000 Bear Challenge, visit the carwash between September 23 and October 31. A single wash ($5.99 – $12.99) is equal to ONE VOTE and a monthly unlimited wash membership ($24.99 – $39.99) is equal to TEN VOTES. To sign up for a monthly membership or for additional information on the Appleseed Challenge, please visit the Appleseed Express Carwash website at www.appleseedexpress.com .
